Have a Happy Easter

We worked hard all day in the hope that the Easter Bunny would come to visit us.  We waited and waited.  He didn't come in the morning, and he didn't come after morning tea.  We still worked hard but he didn't come after lunch.  We looked for him hoping he would be near.  Just before home time we went out to search for him.  We couldn't find him so played a game instead.
When we returned to class we were surprised to see some glitter on the floor.  We followed the trail to a letter written by the Easter Bunny saying how sorry he was to  miss us.
Thank you Easter Bunny!
Hope you all have a safe and happy Easter with your loved ones.
See you at school on Wednesday.

Counting to Ten and beyond.

We have been learning to count to 20 which of course we can do.  We are now learning to recognise the numbers to 20 and learn what number comes before and after up to 20.
We are so clever!!
(There is only 16 of us which is why the biggest number in our photo is 16)

Special Terrific Person and Values Person Week 7

Our Special Terrific Person this week is J.S. for trying his best to be organised and ready to work, staying focused and trying to complete his work on time.  Awesome work J.S.  L.S. is our deserving Values Person for showing Respect to all his friends in room 10 by being thoughtful, caring and considerate.

Peer Mediation

Botany Downs primary is a Cool School.
Today, we had a visit from two of our Peer Mediators.  These are some year 6 children who walk around at morning tea and lunch time, wearing special blue jackets.  If you have a problem that needs solving between friends you can ask the Peer Mediators to help you.
Our  Peer Mediators talked about what to do and then acted out a little scene that might occur in the playground.  We talked about using the 'I' Statement.

In pairs we practised using the 'I' Statement.

Some of us then showed the rest of the class what to do if we have a problem.

Thankfully, we resolved the problem and are happy to be friends again!

Be Safe in an Earthquake!

On Sunday 17th March - St Patrick's Day at around 4.00pm, Auckland experienced two earthquakes.  Most of us felt this.  We talked about safety during an earthquake and what to do.  Fortunately, most of us knew just what to do and helped each other to...

DROP! COVER! HOLD ON!

Do you know what to do in an earthquake?

Special Terrific Person and Values Person Week 6

Congratulations to AL for being our Special Terrific Person for week 6.  AL gets this for trying very hard with her letter sounds to help her reading and writing.  A super effort from IC for being our Values Person this week.  IC has been showing us how Courteous and Respectful she is to others.
Awesome work you two!  You guys are Super Stars!!
